Transient Voltage Regulator DeCAPitator™
The Intersil DeCAPitator helps to stabilize a power system voltage during severe transients. It accomplishes this by supplying current when the voltage is more than 1% low or sinking current when the voltage is higher than 1.5% from the average load voltage. The fast transient response of the DeCAPitator can make up for the slow response time of many switching DC-DC converters. Although the HIP6200 serves as a simple replacement for large output capacitors for any dynamic load, it is especially useful in stabilizing the CPU core voltage in portable computer applications, where size and efficiency are major concerns.
